Humbling Experience

I have never experienced such a humbling experience in my life than the last week. With communication of my resignation, people have sent so many emails to wish me well. However, the most important items in these messages were the stories on how I actually might have made people's lives better in some small way. I have always tried to pride myself to do just that, my job as a leader was to lead in front not in the back (if you know what I mean), and lay some groundwork so that I could help people improve their situation . . . whether, their actual work, their career progression, interesting assignments, or in some instances some personal issue.

I would like to thank all of you who have written, the messages will be cherished for a long time. I am printing each message out and placing in a binder so when some days dont go as well as planned, I can revisit the wonderful memories and stories of my experience at Mercer.

i love the name of the blog and it's a treat to read uncensored. Keep up the postings, and I'm always amazed at how you connect personal events to work situations.

Thank you Steve for sharing your thoughts and experiences. It is very generous from you and a way for us to learn authentic values. I know you will enjoy your new life and you will continue looking at the windscreen and not the mirror. Your former collaborators will missed you but they will retain your communications. Take care :-)
